Wylde KingDom Book One

Alpha Hunter Maison’s primary focus is to keep his wolf pack healthy and happy. But with humans encroaching, they need a way to shift without getting noticed. He knows the local feline pride has found a way to temper their inner animal and asks for their help. Finding a desire to submit to the gorgeous lion shifter is unsettling. Knowing he is his mate turns his world upside down.

Blaise Wylde has worked tirelessly for his pride his entire life. As owner and creator of Wylde KingDom, a BDSM club just for feline shifters, he knows the power that BDSM can wield for their inner animal. When Hunter asks him to help the Pack learn BDSM, he agrees, especially when his inner lion is instantly interested and Hunter turns out to be submissive to him.

Someone in the Pack is unhappy about their alpha being involved with ‘a cat’ and anger quickly escalates to attacks. As Blaise fights to protect his mate, Hunter must do the same, because while he’s trying to find his attacker, someone’s after Blaise and he may already be too late to stop him.

Excerpt:
Blaise Wylde sat behind his desk. If anyone looked in on him, they would think he was hard at work with his head bent over his desk and a pad of legal paper in front of him, his pen poised to write. But his mind was racing too fast for legal matters. The Okanogan Pack had a new alpha and that alpha had asked to meet with him.

Hunter was an apropos name for a wolf alpha and he wondered just what kind of leader he would be. The former alpha had welcomed them to the area as long as they kept to a specific zone. That hadn’t been easy and many of his pride had snuck through the lines and enjoyed themselves in the past. But over the last four years since he opened the club Wylde KingDom, instances of large cats running astray as seen by the human population had stopped.

Life was good and they flourished northeast of Seattle. If the new alpha was coming to ask them to clear off, Blaise would have to figure a way around it. This was their home. They had been there for decades.

With a low growl he dropped the pen on top of the paper and stood up. Alpha Hunter would be there soon or he would let his inner cat out in the dungeon. It was open six days a week, twelve to sixteen hours a day, and there were always members of the Pride on the premises once the doors were open. Surely there was a kit down there that would be willing to bend over for him.

“Blaise?”

He turned and looked at his secretary. Mia gave him a shy smile. Her caracal nature always made her a bit skittish, even with those she trusted. “Yes, Mia?”

“Alpha Hunter of the Okanogan Pack is here.” She gulped and leaned in, lowering her voice. “It smells like wet dog out there.”

He cleared his throat in a rebuke and an immediate flush covered her cheeks. “It’s the rainy northwest, Mia. I’m sure the place smells like wet feline to him.” The color in her cheeks deepened. “Please show Alpha Hunter in.”

The distrust and automatic disgust for those of the Pride toward wolf shifters was programmed into their DNA. Blaise shared Mia’s feelings about that particular wet dog smell, but he could not and would not insult the leader of the Pack. His comment about the particular feline scent had also been true. Like the rest of his kind, he wasn’t happy with the rain or getting wet, and he had no doubt the smell was nauseating to a wolf.

Footsteps approached and he stepped back around his desk. His lion nature automatically made him king of beasts, but his experience with wolf shifters had taught him that they didn’t respect his animal unless faced with the real thing. So he used props to garner the respect he should have been given from the start.

“Alpha Hunter, this is Blaise Wylde’s office,” Mia said from outside the door.

“Thank you,” a smooth male voice responded. “I appreciate your help.”

Blaise prepared himself for the meeting, inhaling deeply to catch the scent of the wolf. It wasn’t what he expected. Most wolves smelled of dirt and rotten animal. Alpha Hunter smelled faintly of cinnamon and the musk of antelope. It was a very enticing scent.

Any preparation he had tried to make went out the door when Alpha Hunter walked through the door. At his height of six feet three inches, he wasn’t as imposing as Blaise expected. He was long and lean without the wide shoulders and bared teeth that always accompanied Alpha Vito’s visits. Dark hair was in the current shaggy style down to his shoulders and was tipped in gray, though he had no way to know if that was natural or chemically done. Light blue eyes met his and Alpha Hunter smiled, showing off white, even teeth but no pronounced canines. “Blaise Wylde? It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He crossed the office in two long strides and held out his hand. “I’m Alpha Hunter of the Okanogan Pack.”

They shook hands and Blaise pointed at a chair across from him. “Thank you for coming to see me. Is this a social call?” After all, as the new alpha he probably did want to know who the felines were in his lands. But in that case, he should have gone to the Pride Council.

“Not quite,” Alpha Hunter said, again with that smile. It was… charming. Slightly lopsided and his lips were a deep cherry color that would look nice wrapped around his—Blaise put the brakes on that thought. “I’m hoping you can help me.”

Here it came. He would ask them to leave. “I’m not sure what kind of help we can offer, Alpha Hunter.”

“Oh please, call me Hunter.” Hunter took a deep breath, as though not knowing how what he was about to say would be accepted. The scent of discomfort filled the air. “As you know, I’ve just taken over the Okanogan Pack. We’re having problems with more and more humans encroaching on Pack lands. Whereas we used to be able to shift and run whenever we liked, now we have to be careful.”

Blaise cocked a brow. “I was under the assumption your former alpha declared war on humans for that reason.” It had made him very uncomfortable when he heard about it. The last thing any of them wanted was for humans to have the blinders pulled off and realize there were predators in their midst wearing human suits.

Hunter winced. “Unfortunately that’s true. And it’s why I challenged him. I don’t want humans to find out about us any more than you probably do.” He fidgeted a little in his seat and Blaise watched him. If it weren’t the fact he had the alpha of the wolf pack in his office, he would assume he was staring at a sub who felt guilty about something. But there was no way a wolf alpha would be a sub, let alone feel shamefaced about something in his presence. That made no sense. Alphas were, by definition, hard asses and dominant as could be.

“Anyway,” Hunter continued as he sat up straight. “We’re losing our ability to shift at will and let our inner animal out. This encroachment leaves us basically to the night of the new moon. I’m worried only one shift per month will cause some in the Pack to act out. I want to give them a way to let their inner animal out without exposing what we are.” He looked vaguely unsure for a moment and then a torrent of words poured out of his mouth. “I know you’ve found a way to keep your pride from making themselves known. I know it’s something you’ve done in the last four years and I’m hoping you’ll share your secret with me. Please,” he added after a beat, which almost made Blaise smile.

He sat back in his chair and gazed at the young alpha. As with most shifters, once a wolf reached maturity, it was difficult to pinpoint his age, but Blaise didn’t think Hunter was very old. Maybe thirty-five summers or so. How did he get to be alpha? “I see,” he said slowly. “Well, the answer to that is quite simple, actually.” Hunter leaned forward, looking a bit like an eager domesticated puppy for a moment. “This club we’re in,” he went on. “Wylde KingDom, is a BDSM club for our kind. Members of the Pride can come in and let their inner animal out through intense sexual play. Some of them shift while here, though except for actual sex, rarely do they play in that form. But they can lounge downstairs, clean their coats, get a scratch from someone walking by, and just be who they are in a place where it’s acceptable.”

Hunter blinked slowly and his mouth opened. And then snapped shut. He reached up and scratched behind his right ear and then cocked his head. “You’re telling me you were able to temper your pride’s animal side through BDSM?”

Amused as he had never realized wolves in their human form had such canine mannerisms, Blaise nodded. “Precisely. In many ways, giving over to our deepest sensual and sexual desires as humans puts us in touch with our animal side. When I whip or fuck someone, my lion and I are aligned. When I’ve put another feline through a satisfyingly long scene and we’re both drenched with sweat, it’s akin to running through the woods in my lion form and having taken down an antelope or elk. Both of us are satisfied and I don’t have to worry about him trying to come out at an inconvenient time.”

That had happened far too often before he found BDSM. Once he realized how calm kink made his beast, he’d opened the club. Since then, his lion had never tried to take over. They were partners, fifty-fifty, in getting the most out of who they were. It made him feel whole.

Hunter leaned back in his chair. His expression was quizzical but not disgusted or annoyed. “I’ve never seen BDSM except for what’s been in the movies. That never looks particularly intense.”

“Definitely not,” Blaise said dryly. “That’s for show or to make fun of the lifestyle. And I doubt you’d find the kind of play we indulge in, in any regular BDSM club.” He gave a wicked grin. “Humans might try and create claws to simulate being scratched, but we have the real ones to play with.”

A little shudder went through Hunter and he licked his lower lip. Blaise wanted to ignore the signs in front of him, but the distinct scent of arousal touched his nose. Well, now. Hunter’s animal side liked what it heard. “Would you like to see what we do?” he asked. “To know better if it might work for the Pack,” he added, wanting to keep everything on a non-personal level. That was difficult given the fact his inner lion had awakened and was scenting the air.

“Could I?” Hunter asked. “That… that’s probably best.” He gulped and fidgeted a little and Blaise’s lion raised his head in interest.

Down, you lazy beast. He’s a wolf and an alpha. He’s dominant.

Are you sure,
his lion responded in a languid tone. He smells good.

Blaise couldn’t argue with that. Hunter smelled amazing and as more of his arousal filled the air, Blaise found his cock thickening. Not good. Not good at all. The wolf pack would not take well to a lion coming on to their alpha.

“Come. Let me show you the dungeon.”
